Gänsebach Viaduct - Supporting structure
To suit the shape of the valley and the height of the bridge, the supports are spaced at intervals of 44 metres based on the master plan for viaducts. This results in a bridge length of 23 x 44 m = 1012 m. The two-track superstructures are formed by 2 x 8-span continuous girders and 1 x 7-span continuous girders. The supports have hollow cross-sections. Deep foundations are required in the Keuper for the supports and abutments.
The two-track superstructures are being built in prestressed concrete in accordance with the master plan for viaducts (continuous girder, hollow box, two tracks). The cross-section is in accordance with the master plan for viaducts. The hollow box of the superstructure is designed as a prestressed longitudinal girder across 8 and 7 spans. On the supports there are cross-members with openings for inspection vehicles and running cables.
