Traction current supply

110 kV northern traction current transmission line

A 110 kV transmission line has been erected between the Eischleben and Wolfsberg substations, to supply the new line with traction current.

The transmission line will supply the Eischleben and Wolfsberg (formerly Ilmenau) substations, the former being upgraded to a node to provide power to the northern section of the new Ebensfeld-Erfurt line. 23 km of the formation will extend across the Ilm district in the state of Thuringia.

The power lines will run on four-armed pylons to the Eischleben substation (about 0.9 km), into which they will be looped. New traction current transmission line 346 will then run from the Eischleben substation to the Wolfsberg substation almost parallel to the new line and the A71 motorway (about 21.7 km).

Ebf 30000, Ebf 32000 steel lattice pylons and one special Ebf 32000 pylon are being used.

The northern traction current transmission line includes:

  • New construction of traction current transmission line 346 from Eischleben to Wolfsberg, with a connection to the Wolfsberg substation
  • Separation of traction current transmission line 312 from Weimar to Bebra
  • New connection between traction current transmission line 312 between Weimar and Bebra, traction current transmission line 312 between Weimar and Eischleben, and traction current transmission line 316, Bebra junction - Bebra, and their connection to the Eischleben substation.

110 kV southern traction current transmission line

The new southern traction current transmission line will connect the Roth substation to and supply it from the 110 kV traction current grid, providing a power supply to the mid-section of the new Ebensfeld - Erfurt line.

The connection will be made at pylon 8472, on the existing route of traction current transmission line 420 from Ebensfeld to Steinbach am Wald. The new 110 kV traction current transmission line to connect the Roth substation contains 81 pylons on a route of approximately 23 km.

Ebf 30000 steel lattice pylons and one Ebf 9900 (narrow-design terminal pylon) are being used. The above pylon types are designed for twice the local wind and ice load.

The southern traction current transmission line includes:

  • New traction current transmission line 338 Roth junction to Roth substation with a connection to Roth substation including crossings (above and below) and approaching lines
  • Conversion of pylon 8472 on 110 kV traction current transmission line 420 from Ebensfeld to Steinbach to connect the new line to the existing grid
  • Cabling the 20 kV medium-tension line of the grid operator Thüringer Energie Netze GmbH (TEN)
