Final state: sealed all round against water pressure and with reinforced concrete inner skin 
Construction method: as in mining

The Reitersberg Tunnel starts at the height of the municipality of Oberwohlsbach and ends to the north at the height of the municipality of Fornbach. The tunnel portals are located to suit the topography so that the cuttings are no more than 18 metres deep.

Tunnelling is proceeding towards the middle of the tunnel from both portals simultaneously. Modern methods of measurement ensure that the tunnellers meet in the middle with accuracy down to millimetre level. The excavated material is being transported to nearby areas where the landscape is modelled.
